4 healthy morning habits to help you get more out of your day.
1 Get up earlier
Don’t exit your web browser! Hear us out.
Think about it like this: how you spend your morning sets the tone for the rest of your day.
Nothing will set you up for a more frantic day, than a frantic morning. We have all had those mornings, laying there, thinking about exactly how minutes it’ll take to shower, get dressed and make breaky, to justify more minutes in bed. Stop doing that.
Set your alarm earlier so you can start the day slower. Get rid of the mentality that your morning time is only for getting yourself out the door, then use that time intentionally.
2 Write your intentions
Writing out your “intentions” for the day, is a healthier version of the traditional to-do list.
This involves writing a short list of around 5 items that you intend on getting done during the day. These can be important work tasks, a particular chore, getting to the gym, making sure you eat lunch. Use it to tackle things you may have been putting off, but be realistic.
A short list of daily intentions is more effective than a to-do list. Why? We tend to have one to-do list that we constantly add to. With the intentions list we get the satisfaction of ticking items off throughout the day, and then throwing out that list once complete. This means that we have won the day.
When we consistently win each day, we win the month, then we win the year. It is a lot less daunting than looking at the year as a whole, and each day is truly a fresh start.
3 Stretch
Look, some people spring out of bed at the crack of dawn to get in a blood-pumping workout, and some people are still hitting snooze 30 minutes after they were supposed to get up (we aren’t pointing fingers).
If you aren’t a 5.45am spin class enthusiast, it doesn’t mean you can’t get the brain-boosting benefits of morning movement.
Our alarm clock is generally what wakes us up in a literal sense, but moving our body is basically our brain’s alarm clock. Ever wondered why you sometimes get to work and don’t even remember the commute? Now you know!
Even a 5 minute stretch can increase blood flow and circulation and decrease tension and stress. It also doubles as a form of meditation - keeping you grounded and present as you start your day.

4 Drink functional coffee
Okay… we KNOW we don’t need to tell you twice that you should drink coffee in the morning. This isn’t ground-breaking news, and we’d go as far as to bet our left bean you already do this.
But are you did you know you can promote your morning cup-of-joe to DO MORE?
Functional Coffee is coffee with added goodness to help you perform. Flow State takes this to the next level. We have combined delicious Columbian Arabica coffee with our unique Superfood and Nootropics formula to help you awaken your best self, one sip at a time.
Nootropics (also known as "smart drugs" or "cognitive enhancers") are substances that are known to increase cognitive function in areas such as memory, creativity, motivation and focus.
We've all heard of superfoods, and aside from just sounding amazing, they come with some pretty great benefits. We've included Turmeric for its anti-inflammatory properties and Ginseng to fight stress and lower cortisol. We've also added Ginkgo Biloba to fight free radicals and improve cognitive function by increasing blood flow to your brain, then we topped it off with a little MCT to boost your metabolism and energy levels. How good!
